Young Samuel, served the Lord under Eli's supervision. The Lord seldom spoke through proof at that time.
Amos 8:11-12

People will be looking everywhere from coast to coast for the word of the Lord. They will run up and down but not find it. At that time beautiful girls as well as young men will sit weary.

De jonge Samuel, diende de Heer onder toezicht van Eli. De Here sprak in die tijd zelden door een provetie.
Amos 8:11-12
"Let op want er komt een tijd" zegt de oppermachtige Here, " Dat ik een hongersnood naar dit land zal sturen." Geen hongersnood van brood en water, maar van de Here. Mensen zullen overal van kust tot kust op zoek naar het woord van de Here. Zij zullen op en neer rennen maar het niet vinden. In die tijd zullen zowel mooie meisjes als flinke jongemannen vermoeid neerzitten.
